Mr. Tran Ngoc Hai - Vice Principal of Can Tho University - informed that the "Asian Steel Bridge Design 2024" competition was organized to promote the spirit of learning and scientific research of students; enhance cultural and academic exchanges between students from universities; Establish relationships and strengthen cooperation between universities throughout Asia.
“This event was held for the first time in Vietnam and the Mekong Delta region, especially at Can Tho University. The competition has a total of 21 teams from 18 universities in Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam; with a total of 209 participants," Mr. Hai said.
Participating in the competition, each team will come up with an idea for a bridge model, calculate the load-bearing capacity of the components, manufacture the details, assemble and test the load. The specific content of the competition is specified in the "Regulations of the 2024 Asian Steel Bridge Design Competition" drafted by the Technical Advisory Board.
Regarding design content, all models will be scored according to standards of aesthetics and load-bearing capacity. With construction content, teams carry out construction and ensure the most effective construction time; ensure construction labor safety; Demonstrate the ability to divide and arrange work appropriately. As for the presentation content, teams will present their bridge design model and answer questions related to the design model in English.
Mr. Hai believes that, with 3 days of exciting activities, the event will bring great results, opportunities for lecturers, students and participants to improve their learning abilities and gain valuable insights. value in the field of engineering, thereby also contributing to promoting the potential cooperation of countries in the future.
