People refused to bathe in the Da River even though the hydropower plant opened 4 flood gates
Although the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant is in the process of releasing floodwaters , many people and children are still carefree bathing in the Da River under the dangerous fast-flowing water.
On the afternoon of July 25, according to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant opened 4 discharge gates, causing the water level downstream of the Da River to rise, creating a fast-flowing stream.
However, dozens of people still braved the danger and gathered to bathe on both banks of the Da River, in the areas of Dong Tien, Phuong Lam, Tan Thinh, and Huu Nghi wards (Hoa Binh city).
According to observations, on the Da Giang dike, motorbikes were neatly set up and groups of people carrying items such as life jackets and swimsuits then went down to swim together in the fast-flowing water.
What's special is that even though the water is strong and choppy, there are still many people who don't wear life jackets and still swim far from shore.
