Article 18 of Decree 166/2024/ND-CP stipulates the conditions for business of motor vehicle inspection services; organization and operation of inspection facilities; life of motor vehicles, and stipulates how to determine the life of motor vehicles as follows:
1. Twenty-five (25) years from the year of manufacture for cargo cars (tonnage cars), specialized cargo cars (specialized trucks).
2. Twenty (20) years from the year of manufacture for passenger cars with a permitted number of people or more (excluding the driver), cars carrying preschool children, school cars, four-wheeled cargo vehicles with engines.
3. Ten and 15. (5) years are calculated from the year of manufacture for four-wheeled motorized passenger vehicles.
4. The term of use for vehicles similar to motor vehicles is applied as to motor vehicles in Clauses 1, 2 and 3 of this Article; ensuring suitability for each function and function of each type of similar vehicle.
Article 19 of Decree 166/2024/ND-CP stipulates how to determine the year of automobile manufacture as follows:
1. The year of manufacture of the vehicle is determined based on information about the year of manufacture in one of the following documents in the following priority order:
a) Certificate of technical safety and environmental protection for imported motor vehicles; certificate of factory quality for domestically manufactured and assembled vehicles;
b) Information on the year of manufacture of the manufacturer attached to the vehicle;
c) Results of the lookup from the manufacturer or documents provided by the manufacturer.
2. Vehicles without documents, records, or facilities specified in Clause 1 of this Article are considered to have expired.
Thus, the life of a car will be regulated as above.
