Vietnam and Thailand will meet in the final of the ASEAN Cup 2024. This is considered a dream final and also a "Southeast Asian derby" between two rival teams.
According to the schedule, the first leg of the final will take place at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho). Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team have home field advantage to aim for a favorable result against Thailand.
On the contrary, the Thai team is at a disadvantage before the important match. They play the semi-final match one day later than the Vietnamese team, so they will have less days off.
Coach Ishii Masatada’s players also went through a tense 120-minute match (including 2 extra periods). After the match, they immediately flew to Hanoi and then moved to Phu Tho. Such a tight schedule more or less affected the physical and mental strength of the Thai players.
In a pre-match press conference, coach Kim Sang-sik admitted that this was an advantage for the Vietnamese team. At the same time, he hoped that his players would perform at their best to bring victory to their fans in the first days of the new year.
The second leg final between Vietnam and Thailand will take place at 8:00 p.m. on January 2 at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho.
