At 8:00 p.m. tonight (January 5), the Vietnamese team will face Thailand again in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final at Rajamangala Stadium.
Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team have the advantage as they previously defeated the "War Elephants" in the first leg of the final (2.1) at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho. Therefore, with just a draw or a win in the next match, the Vietnamese team will lift the championship trophy.
However, Xuan Son and his teammates need to be extremely careful because this is not a safe score. The Thai team has home field advantage and always knows how to make things difficult for the opponent, especially when some key players such as Suphanat, Supachok or Weerathep have been kept on the field for the second leg.
In case Vietnam team loses by 1 goal difference (0-1, 1-2, 2-3...), then the total score is equal and the two teams have to play extra time to determine the winner.
If they want to win the championship, the "Golden Star Warriors" must not lose by a margin of 2 goals or more (0-2, 2-4, 1-3...), because at this time Thailand will have a better total score and successfully defend the regional title.
Despite having to play away, many Vietnamese fans have gone to Thailand to support Mr. Kim Sang-sik's team. This will be the motivation for the players to continue fighting and bring home a favorable result.
