On the morning of September 15, in Hanoi, the Organizing Committee of the 5th National Defense, Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity Journalism Award, 2024-2025, held a Final Council meeting.
Ms. Ha Thi Nga, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament chaired the meeting.
Mr. Vu Van Tien - Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front said that as of July 31, 2025, the Organizing Committee of the Award has received 1,110 valid entries from 4 press genres including: print newspapers, electronic newspapers, radio and television from nearly 90 press agencies at the central and local levels.
After two weeks of conducting independent judging, with a high sense of responsibility, democracy and objectivity, the members of the Preliminary Council analyzed, exchanged, and comprehensively evaluated each work and reached an agreement to select the works for final judging. As a result, the Preliminary Council selected 91 works in 4 categories: including 30 printed works, 35 electronic newspapers, 16 television works, and 10 broadcast works to the final round for the Final Round Council to consider and grade the awards: Special (if any), A, B, C and Encouragement.
Mr. Vu Van Tien said that the 5th National Press Award on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity has the participation of many central and local press agencies. Journalism works not only focus on reflecting on the topic of preventing and combating corruption and negativity but also focus on propaganda and reflecting the practice of thrift and combating waste in the whole society, criticizing and strongly condemning wasteful acts; propagating the results of the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity both in the State sector and the non-state sector.
Some works are invested in and exhibited in the form of Mega Story; Works by local press agencies are quite good in quality, with deep investment in the theme, theme, and way of expressing rich press works, following the trend of modern journalism. Reflect and fight against the "fear of responsibility", the working ideology of being moderate, avoiding, pushing, and not daring to do wrong among cadres and party members, especially leaders and managers at all levels; building a culture of integrity, no corruption, waste, and negativity among cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, and people, etc.
Many works reflect the role and results of activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, the press and the people in participating in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity.
According to the Plan, the Organizing Committee of the 5th National Press Award for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity, 2024 - 2025, plans to increase the number and structure of the 5th Award to include 44 awards, specifically as follows: Special Award (if any), 4 A Prizes, 10 B Prizes, 12 C Prizes and 18 Encouragement Prizes.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice President Ha Thi Nga said that the 5th National Defense Press Award, Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity has received the attention and response of a large number of reporters and editors, gathering excellent writers from news agencies and newspapers at the central and local levels. The evaluation results of the Preliminary Council show the diversity, richness, and multi-dimensionality of the works. The quality of works participating in the Award has been significantly improved each year.
According to Vice Chairwoman Ha Thi Nga, the scoring results of the Preliminary Council are an important content, helping the Final Council to carry out the next tasks to select works that are truly valuable, have strong influence in the social community, have high orientation, and are implemented in accordance with the spirit and working regulations of the Council, ensuring good implementation of the contest's rules.
Vice President Ha Thi Nga suggested that the Final Round Council should closely follow the basis, criteria, and rules of the Award in the process of reviewing and scoring press works, in an objective, comprehensive, and accurate spirit, thereby selecting worthy works, contributing to promoting the work of preventing corruption, waste, and negativity of the Party and State in the current period.
