The 2025 Farmers' Listening Forum with the theme "Accompanying farmers to enter a new era" was organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
Attending and co-chairing the forum were Mr. Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association; Mr. Tran Duc Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Environment.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Mr. Luong Quoc Doan, Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, emphasized that after 5 years of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress and nearly 4 years of implementing Resolution No. 19, agriculture has gradually developed towards ecology, green, circular, applying high technology, improving quality and efficiency, continuing to promote the role of "supporting" in the economy, ensuring national food security; building new rural areas has achieved many outstanding results, fundamentally changing the face of rural areas and improving people's lives.

Over the past 5 years, the Vietnam Farmers' Association has launched many major emulation movements such as: "Farmers are good at production and business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably"; the movement "Cadres, members, and farmers actively participate in collective economic development in agriculture" towards "Green rural design - digital agriculture - value chain", "connecting cooperatives, clusters, processing, markets"; the Vietnam Farmers' Association also actively launched the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas...
At the forum, I and the Minister will directly listen and discuss issues under the management functions and tasks of the two units. For issues related to many sectors and fields, we will receive, synthesize and report at the upcoming Prime Minister's Dialogue Conference with farmers in 2025," said Mr. Luong Quoc Doan.
Speaking at the forum, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang said: "The mission of the agricultural sector is not only to ensure food security, but also to create happiness, prosperity and civilization for rural areas of Vietnam. We are entering a green era - the era of innovation, of data and knowledge, where farmers are not only good at producing, but also mastering technology, mastering the market and mastering their own future".
At the forum, the opinions of many farmers related to access to capital for reproduction after natural disasters were discussed by leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, who will coordinate with the State Bank and relevant ministries and branches to remove difficulties in accessing support policies after natural disasters; at the same time, continue to prioritize investment resources for construction, upgrading irrigation infrastructure, and dykes to proactively respond to increasingly extreme natural disasters.

Responding further to climate change, according to Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang, it is possible to clearly see the severe impact of natural disasters, floods, climate change, especially Typhoon Yagi in 2024 and a series of natural disasters that have occurred since the beginning of the year. Right at this time, the Central region continues to struggle, the damage is huge.
"However, it is necessary to recognize that natural disasters are a global phenomenon, occurring unexpectedly, in many places, at many different times, so to build a complete and synchronous natural disaster prevention infrastructure system, it requires large resources and a long time," said Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang.
Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Association Luong Quoc Doan also said that this agency will soon work with the State Bank and relevant agencies to soon have specific and satisfactory feedback, in order to fully answer the rights and remove difficulties for farmers in accessing support policies after natural disasters.
