Latest update from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 a.m. on June 13, the center of storm No. 1 was at about 18.2 degrees north latitude; 108.7 degrees east longitude, in the sea southwest of Hainan Island (China). The strongest wind near the storm center is level 10 (89-102km/h), gusting to level 13. The storm is moving north-northwest at a speed of 10 - 15km/h.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, storm No. 1 will continue to move north-northeast, then turn north-northeast at a speed of 10 - 15km/h. At 7:00 a.m. on June 14, the center of the storm was at about 20.5 degrees north latitude; 109.3 degrees east longitude, in the sea east of the northern Gulf of Tonkin. The strongest wind near the storm center is level 10, gusting to level 13.
The dangerous area in the East Sea in the next 24 hours will be north of the 16.0 degrees north latitude line, from the 106.5 to 111 degrees east longitude. Level 3 natural disaster risk in the northwest of the northern East Sea, the offshore waters from Quang Tri to Da Nang and the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.
It is forecasted that in the next 48 hours, storm No. 1 will move north-northeast at a speed of 15km/h and gradually weaken into a tropical depression. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 7, gusting to level 9. The dangerous area in the next 48 hours will be north of latitude 18.5 degrees north, from longitude 106.5 to 113 degrees east. The level 3 natural disaster risk affects the northwest of the northern East Sea and the northern sea area of the Gulf of Tonkin.
It is forecasted that in the next 72 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move northeast at a speed of 20 - 25km/h and gradually weaken into a low pressure area in the southern mainland of China, with an intensity below level 6.
Regarding the impact of the storm at sea, the northwest of the northern East Sea and the offshore waters from Quang Tri to Da Nang will have strong winds of level 6-8, near the storm's eye will have winds of level 9 - 10, gusts of level3; waves of 3 - 5m high, near the storm's eye will have waves of 4 - 6m; the sea will be very rough.
The Gulf of Tonkin has strong winds of level 6 - 7, the area near the storm center has level 8 - 10, gusts of level; waves 2 - 4m high, especially in the east 3 - 5m; very rough seas. Ship operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds, and large waves.
Coastal areas, due to the influence of high tides and storm surges, provinces from Hai Phong to Nghe An are likely to experience high sea levels ( Hon Dau: 3.9m; Hon Ngu: 2.8m), causing local flooding in some low-lying areas in coastal areas and river mouths between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on June 13 and 14.
