According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, through monitoring on satellite images, thunderstorm location data and weather radar, it was discovered that at 9:30 a.m. on July 20, convective clouds continued to develop and caused rain in Tam Hung and the southern areas of Hanoi city.
In the next 3 hours (from 9:30 a.m. on July 20), this cloud area will cause rain in the above areas, then spread to other wards/communes in Hanoi's inner city. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The warning level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting recommends that people limit going out and proactively prevent dangerous weather phenomena, especially in areas with many trees or advertising signs.
Previously, the meteorological agency forecasted that on the day and night of July 20, the Northern and North Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain; the Northeast region and the Northern Delta on the night of July 20 will have rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain to very heavy rain with rainfall from 20 - 40mm, locally over 80mm.
