On November 28, at the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve, a representative of Dong Nai province's leadership said that, to date, Dong Nai is one of the few localities that still retains a large area of natural forest with more than 150,000 hectares of continuous forest.
In 1997, the leaders of Dong Nai province had a policy of "closing the natural forest", forming a large and contiguous nature reserve with an area of more than 150,000 hectares of continuous natural forest located in the North of the province, where typical forest habitats of the lower Dong Nai River are distributed, typical of the Southeast region, and is home to wild animals, many of which are classified as rare, endangered and listed in the Vietnam Red Book and the IUCN Red List of the world.
This place is also the famous revolutionary base area "War Zone D", with 3 national historical relics and cultural and artistic works.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vo Van Phi - Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee requested that in the coming time, Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve continue to do well in protecting, conserving biodiversity and developing forests in an increasingly sustainable direction.
Regarding tourism development, Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve needs to effectively implement the Ecotourism, Resort and Entertainment Project until 2030 approved by Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee.
Advise the People's Committee of Dong Nai province to approve the policy for Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve to sign a contract to lease the forest environment for tourism business for investment projects in high-quality tourism products.
Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hao - Director of Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve - said that since 2004, Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve has been established with the function of protecting the remaining forest area, restoring and continuing to enrich the forest. Along with that, protecting and promoting historical revolutionary relics, the environment of the upstream water area, promoting the value of the inland wetlands of Tri An Lake, the downstream of Dong Nai River to serve the sustainable development strategy.
Over the past 20 years, Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve has carried out the mission of preserving biodiversity, promoting ecological, cultural and historical values.
With a rich ecosystem, this place is not only home to hundreds of rare species of flora and fauna but also a "green gem" in the heart of the Southeast region, playing an essential role in ecological balance, protecting water resources and the living environment for people in the surrounding area.
On this occasion, collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements at Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve were awarded certificates of merit by Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee.
In 2004, Dong Nai decided to establish Dong Nai Cultural Nature Reserve with a total area of over 100,000 hectares including forest and Tri An lake.
