According to Dr. Hoang Phuc Lam - Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in October 2024, the average temperature across the country will still be 0.5 - 1 degree Celsius higher than the average of many years.
In November - December 2024, the average temperature will be approximately the same; in the Northern region, North Central - Central Central regions, it is likely to be about 0.5 degrees Celsius lower than the average of many years in the same period.
"We forecast that cold air is likely to be active in November - December 2024, in which severe cold in the North is likely to appear from the second half of December (equivalent to the average of many years)" - Mr. Lam said.
According to the Deputy Director of the Meteorological Agency, cold air will continue to increase in intensity and frequency in January - February 2025, causing severe cold in a wide area in the Northern provinces. It is necessary to be on guard against the possibility of dangerous weather phenomena such as frost, ice, and snow in the mountainous provinces of the Northern region.
Regarding the rainfall trend, according to Mr. Hoang Phuc Lam, the total rainfall from now until the end of the year in the North, Central, Central Highlands and South will generally be higher than the average of many years in the same period.
"The rainy season in the Central region is likely to concentrate mainly in October - November 2024. With such a rain forecast, flood warnings will be issued frequently during the above period in the Central region. The rainy season in the Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions may end later than usual (around the second half of December 2024)" - Mr. Lam provided information on the rainy season forecast.
