On April 26, in Trieu An commune (Trieu Phong district), a project to invest in the construction of a clean water supply pipeline for 8 northeastern communes of Trieu Phong district and complete the water supply network, connecting customers in Trieu An and Trieu Thanh communes (Trieu Dong commune, Trieu Phong district) was started.
This project is invested by Quang Tri Clean Water Joint Stock Company, implemented in Dong Ha City and Trieu Phong District. The investment capital includes 72 billion VND from the investor and mobilized capital from the people and sponsors. The construction period is from April 2025 to the end of 2025.
The project will invest in a 22km long transmission pipeline system to ensure clean water supply from Tan Luong Water Plant (Dong Ha City) to the center of 8 communes in the Northeast region of Trieu Phong district.
Before the completion of the project, the water supply will be connected to all people in Trieu Tan and Trieu Thanh communes with 3,032 households. At the same time, be ready for component projects to deploy water connection to the northeastern communes of Trieu Phong district with the population of the project area being served by 40,260 people.
Mr. Ha Sy Dong - Acting Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province - said that this is a project of practical significance in promoting the completion of criterion 17.1 on the rate of rural households using clean water that meets standards in the national criteria for building new rural areas.
Previously, Lao Dong published an article "Many people have cancer, localities suspect that people use dirty water" informing that each year, in Trieu Tai commune alone (Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province), dozens of people have cancer. The locality believes that the sudden increase in the number of people with the disease is due to the use of polluted well water. Knowing how to use unstable well water, people have no choice because there is no centralized clean water system.
Not only in Trieu Tai commune, in Trieu Phong district, there are 14 more communes that do not have clean water for use. For many consecutive years, voters have continuously reported, but due to lack of funding, Quang Tri province has not invested in water supply systems for communes in Trieu Phong district.
