Cold air strengthens, forecast of cold rain

This morning (December 28), the cold air has affected the Northwest and some places in the Central Central region.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the impact of cold air, the Gulf of Tonkin has strong northeast winds of level 7, gusting to level 8-9.

Today (December 28), cold air continues to affect other places in the Central Central region and some places in the South Central region. Northeast wind inland is strong at level 2-3, coastal areas at level 3-4.

The Northern region and the area from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue continue to be cold, with some mountainous areas in the North experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature during this cold spell in the North and North Central regions is generally between 11 and 14 degrees Celsius, with some mountainous areas in the North experiencing below 10 degrees Celsius.

Average temperature is about 16 - 18 degrees Celsius, in the Northern mountainous region 13 - 16 degrees Celsius, in some places below 13 degrees Celsius.

The area from Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue has the lowest temperature commonly 14 - 17 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is about 17 - 19 degrees Celsius.

Hanoi area is cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 11 - 14 degrees Celsius.

The area from Thua Thien Hue to Phu Yen on December 28 is forecast to have moderate to heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms due to the influence of strengthening cold air. Thunderstorms are likely to have tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

Heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

At sea, Gulf of Tonkin strong northeast wind level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8 - 9; rough sea; waves from 2 - 4m high. North East Sea area (including Hoang Sa archipelago) strong northeast wind level 7, gusting to level 9; rough sea; waves from 4 - 6m high.

The sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau, the central East Sea area, the sea area west of the South East Sea area (including the sea area west of Truong Sa archipelago) has strong northeast wind level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8 - 9; rough seas; waves from 4 - 6m high.

Strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect boating and other activities.
