The area from Thua Thien Hue to Phu Yen on December 28 is forecast to have moderate to heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms due to the influence of strengthening cold air. Thunderstorms are likely to have tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
Heavy rains can cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

The sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau, the central East Sea area, the sea area west of the South East Sea area (including the sea area west of Truong Sa archipelago) has strong northeast wind level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8 - 9; rough seas; waves from 4 - 6m high.
Strong winds and large waves at sea are likely to affect boating and other activities.
