The meteorological agency said that thunderstorms are developing strongly and are moving towards Hanoi city, causing rain in the evening and evening of July 20.

Latest update from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, through monitoring on satellite images, thunderstorm location data and weather radar, thunderstorms are being strongly developed in the areas of Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen provinces, Hai Phong city and are moving towards Hanoi city.

In the next 30 minutes to 3 hours (from 4:50 p.m. on July 20), this cloud area will cause rain in the above areas, then spread to other wards/communes in Hanoi's inner city. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The warning level of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.

Previously, the meteorological agency also issued a forecast bulletin for the evening and night of July 20, the North and North Central regions will continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain. In particular, the Northeast and Northern Delta regions will have rain, moderate rain, locally heavy rain to very heavy rain, with rainfall from 20 - 40mm, some places over 80mm.

This afternoon and evening, July 20, the Central and Southern highlands will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 10 - 30mm, some places over 70mm.

From July 21 to July 22, the Northeast region, the Northern Delta, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 120 - 250mm, some places over 400mm; Other places in the North and Ha Tinh will have heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 70 - 150mm, some places over 200mm

From the night of July 22 to July 23, the Northeast, Northern Delta, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 60 - 100mm, some places over 200mm.

Other places in the North and Ha Tinh will have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall from 30 - 60mm, some places over 100mm.

Total rainfall from July 21 to July 23, in the Northeast region, the Northern Delta, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, there will be heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 200 -350mm, locally over 600mm.

Other places in the Northern region and Ha Tinh will have heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 100 - 200mm, locally over 300mm.
