Floods in the Central - Central Highlands have left 102 people dead and missing

Floods caused particularly serious damage, causing hundreds of thousands of houses to be flooded and damaged, 102 people to die and go missing, and many localities continue to call for help.

Heavy human losses: 102 dead and missing

According to the report of the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention, updated to 7:00 a.m. on November 23, 2025, floods in the Central Central and South Central regions continued to cause particularly serious damage, in which human losses were at a very high level with 102 deaths and missing cases.

The report recorded 90 deaths, including: Quang Tri 1; Hue 2; Da Nang 2; Gia Lai 3; Dak Lak 63; Khanh Hoa 14; Lam Dong 5. There are 12 people missing, at: Da Nang 2; Dak Lak 8; Khanh Hoa 2. Dak Lak is the locality with the highest number of deaths.

Heavy rain continues, many areas are at risk of increased flooding

From 7:00 p.m. on November 22 to 6:00 a.m. on November 23, the common rainfall was below 15mm. Some places recorded heavier rainfall such as Son Dinh (Dak Lak) 40mm, Dong Tron Lake 30mm, Long My Lake (Gia Lai) 29mm, Hoa Son Lake (Khanh Hoa) 27mm.

It is forecasted that from the morning of November 23 to the morning of November 25, Hue, Da Nang, and the East of Quang Ngai will have moderate to very heavy rain, with rainfall of 60 - 120mm, locally over 250mm.

On November 23, the eastern provinces from Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong and the South will have rain of 10 - 30mm, locally over 70mm.

Floods on many rivers are receding but are still high

Floods on the Krong Ana River (Dak Lak), Dinh Ninh Hoa River (Khanh Hoa) and Dong Nai River are decreasing.

The water level at 5:00 a.m. on November 23 was recorded: Ba River at Cung Son: 31.43 m (under BD2 0.57 m); Krong Ana River at Giang Son: 424.55 m (over BD3 0.55 m); crepok River at Ban Don: 178.13 m (over BD3 4.13 m); Dinh River in Ninh Hoa: 5.04 m (over BD2 0.04 m); Dong Nai River at Ta Lai: 112.51 m (over BD2 0.01 m).

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, floods on rivers will continue to decrease, while the Srepok River will maintain high water levels above BD3.

Many localities are still flooded

Gia Lai: no more flooded households.

Dak Lak: 4 communes and wards are flooded (Hoa Xuan, Dong Hoa, Hoa Thinh, Hoa My).

Khanh Hoa: the water has receded, and 87 households/364 people in Dien Dien and Hoa Tri are still flooded.

Lam Dong: basically receded water, there are 127 households in Nam Da and Cat Tien.

Houses, agriculture, and transportation were severely damaged

House damage continues to be recorded. There were 1,154 damaged houses, the most in Lam Dong with 825 apartments. In addition, 185,733 houses were flooded, mainly in Dak Lak (150,000 houses - the figure has been verified to decrease by 50,000). Up to now, Gia Lai has been completely flooded; Dak Lak still has 4 communes and wards deeply flooded; Khanh Hoa has 87 households with 364 people and Lam Dong has 127 households in Nam Da and Cat Tien.

In the agricultural sector, the total area of damage was very large. 80,825 hectares of rice and crops, 117,067 hectares of perennial crops were destroyed; Dak Lak alone accounts for the majority of the area. The whole region had more than 3.23 million livestock and poultry dead or swept away. Aquaculture damage was recorded at 1,157 hectares, mainly in Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa.

Traffic infrastructure is still cut off at many points. National Highway 1 has been cleared, but 12 locations on other national highways have been eroded and deeply flooded. The railway still has to ban 6 sections. In the energy sector, the total number of customers who have lost power is 1,178,186; there are currently 258,045 customers that have not been restored. The telecommunications network recorded 552 BTS stations without connections.

Preliminary economic losses are estimated at VND9,035 billion. Localities are continuing to update damage and recommend emergency support

Gia Lai: 2,000 tons of rice, 3,000 kg of Chloramine B chemicals, 100,000 Aquatabs.

Dak Lak: 2,000 tons of food, 3,000 kg of Cloramine B chemicals, 1,000 liters of chemicals for water and environmental treatment; 1,000 first aid bags, 2,000 bags of medicine and 5,000 safety bags, 30,000 liters of chemicals for disinfection; support crop varieties (80 tons of rice seeds, 15 tons of corn seeds, 175 tons of bean seeds of all kinds, ...), livestock varieties (buffalo, cow, pig, chicken, ...) and other essential materials to restore production.

Millions of arms turn to compatriots affected by storms and floods

Consecutive storms and floods caused by storms have caused many deaths, missing people, and injuries; many houses and production and business establishments have had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage. People across the Central and Northern mountainous provinces are struggling day and night to cope with floods and heavy losses in human lives and property that cannot be mentioned...
