Everyone's face was excited and eager for this meaningful work.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu, a member of the volunteer group, said: “To have funds to wrap Chung cakes to give to war invalids, people with disabilities, and orphans, we mobilized support and sharing from the community, each person contributed a little to buy sticky rice, beans, meat, dong leaves, etc. The volunteer group members not only donated funds but also contributed to wrapping the cakes. We are very happy to contribute a part of our efforts to show gratitude for the noble sacrifice of revolutionary soldiers and bring people with disabilities and orphans a happy and warm Tet.”
Spread the love
Because of the need to organize a New Year's Eve meal for the wounded soldiers at noon the next day, it was necessary to urgently wrap and cook the cakes the night before. The brothers and sisters diligently boiled the cakes, each person in charge of a pot of cakes until the job of boiling the cakes was completed.
When the cakes were taken out, it was time to start a new day. The steps of washing and pressing to make the cakes dry and more delicious were carried out carefully and thoughtfully. Returning home at 1am, the next morning, all members were still present to offer prayers to the heroic martyrs resting at Vinh City Martyrs Cemetery.
After that, they continued their journey to give banh chung and bird's nest to seriously wounded soldiers, martyrs' relatives, and meritorious people at Nghe An War Invalids Nursing Center and organized a gratitude meal at Nghe An Mental Health Nursing Center.
In the afternoon, the volunteer group came to the Center for the care of disabled children, orphans, and homeless people 1.5, Lang Nam parish, hamlet 10, Nghi Trung, Nghi Loc. In the bitter cold, the Christmas atmosphere here was warmer because in the meal given to the disabled and orphans by Miss Hanoi - Vu Thu Tra My, there was green banh chung and pork roll.
Mr. Phan Huu Tinh - representative of the volunteer group Congee Love Pot Thanh Vinh expressed: "The green Chung cakes are small gifts, not of great material value but contain the affection of the whole community sent to the wounded soldiers, relatives of martyrs, and meritorious people, expressing gratitude and warm New Year wishes to them".
