As an important irrigation project located in Hoa Chau ward (Hue city), Thao Long dam was built with the expectation of preventing salinity, keeping fresh water, contributing to regulating water resources for agricultural production and daily life in the downstream area of the Huong River.The project was put into operation in 2008 with a total investment of VND152 billion at that time.The overall dam is 571m long, including 15 culvert compartments with large valve gates of 31.5m; the boat dock system has two gates 8m wide to ensure waterway traffic.Thao Long Dam also coordinates with large reservoirs in the area such as Ta Trach and Binh Dien to regulate the flow and regulate water levels during the dry season and flood season.However, after nearly two decades of operation in harsh conditions, especially frequent exposure to saltwater, many items of the dam have shown signs of deterioration.According to records, the CT3 steel valve door system has been severely eroded and rusted.Technical equipment structure is rusty.Electrical equipment, outdoor electronics, and hydraulic equipment have been damaged due to the impact of weather and the environment.The creatures and mud were clinging to the water barrier.A valve gate of Thao Long Dam is "struggling" to regulate water in a state of disrepair.Many years ago, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) approved the Urgent Repair Project to ensure the safety of the Thao Long dam project with a total investment of nearly 350 billion VND.Up to now, when the project has not been implemented, this dam to prevent salinity and keep the sweetness still has to struggle to do a good job in the increasingly degraded state.
The project will renovate the following items: Replace 6 valve doors and repair 9 valve doors, replace all the bottom water clusters and side water clusters at 15 gates; replace the doors and bulletproof bridges with stainless steel, waterproofing with rubber and garlic rubber.
Arrange a cluster with water on the sides and bottom to facilitate repair, replacement of gaskets and maintenance of valve doors. Replace the closed silinder system with the main valve and drainage valve.
In addition, the project will handle the dambed seepage, handle the cracks under the project valve beams, which will reinforce the erosion holes and downstream flows of the project. Upgrading and repairing the power system to control the valves at the project and the management house; repairing and upgrading the management house, embankment combined with the management road at both ends of Thao Long dam.
In addition, the project will renovate traffic bridges, lighting systems, and signs; build a monitoring system to serve the management and operation of the project.
