    Van Chang Communal House is located on a 1,480m2 plot of land in Van Chang village, Nam Giang town, Nam Truc district, Nam Dinh province. This ancient communal house is a place of worship and gratitude of the local people towards the Six Blacksmith Patriarchs.

    The blacksmithing profession in Van Chang village was formed at the end of the 14th century, and has been around for nearly 7 centuries. Initially, blacksmithing was just a sideline profession alongside agricultural production. Through many historical periods, blacksmithing has gradually developed, separated from agriculture to go deeper into specialized production, becoming a traditional handicraft.

    In the communal house grounds, there are many ancient trees creating a cool, fresh atmosphere. Looking from the outside in, the communal house consists of architectural works: the ceremonial gate, the screen, the lake, the yard, the temple to worship the family's ancestors, the central architectural work and two rows of inner courtyards on both sides.

    The front door system is made of ironwood in the style of a panel running along the five central compartments of the building.
