HCMC - 9 pedestrian overpasses connecting stations of Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro Line) will be completed by the end of September.
Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) has a total length of 19.7km with 11 elevated stations. Of which, 9 stations (from Tan Cang station to National University station) have additional pedestrian bridges connecting with bus stops and residential areas on both sides of Hanoi Highway and Vo Nguyen Giap Street.According to the reporter's records, 9 pedestrian bridges connecting the stations: Tan Cang, Rach Chiec, Phuoc Long, Binh Thai, High Technology, Thao Dien, An Phu, Thu Duc and National University have taken shape.A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board said: "Up to now, 7/9 bridges have completed all architectural items, upper roof structure as well as installation of electromechanical systems, lighting, and signs of the pedestrian bridge. The last 2 pedestrian bridges, Thu Duc and National University bridges, will also be completed in September for acceptance testing in the early fourth quarter of 2024."Currently, the Urban Railway Management Board has coordinated with the contractor to increase the number of construction teams and carry out construction both day and night to meet the project's progress. It is expected that by the end of September, all 9 pedestrian overpasses connecting the stations of Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 will be completed.The pedestrian bridge connecting to Tan Cang station, Binh Thanh district, seen from above has been completed. Tan Cang station is the largest station and has a different architecture compared to the elevated stations of Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro. This station is designed with 4 train lanes (other stations have 2 lanes) to later serve as a transit point for the entire Metro Line 5 (Sai Gon bridge - Bay Hien intersection).1.2km away is Thao Dien station, where the pedestrian bridge is basically completed. The pedestrian bridge is designed with two branches, including one branch connecting through the parallel road Vo Nguyen Giap and the other crossing the Black bridge leading to the park under the Saigon bridge.From Thao Dien station towards Suoi Tien, the pedestrian bridge connecting Rach Chiec station has also taken shape. In addition, a parking lot is being built for people to conveniently park their cars and catch buses.The pedestrian bridge connecting the High-Tech Park station is the first project to be constructed, completed earlier this year.Under the pedestrian bridges are bus stops.
Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway project in Ho Chi Minh City, with a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND, nearly 20 km long, from Long Binh depot, Thu Duc to Ben Thanh, District 1.
In addition to 11 elevated stations, the line also has three underground stations in the city center: Ben Thanh, City Theater and Ba Son.
Currently, the entire project is 99% complete. According to the plan, Metro Line 1 will be put into trial operation in October and November, then officially put into commercial operation at the end of this year.
