Two locations are set to construct a tunnel with a total investment of 3.200 trillion VND in Hanoi

The Investment Project for Building an Interchange with a Different Elevation Between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Avenue (Section Passing through Hoai Duc District) Was Approved by Hanoi in 2022. The Project Has a Total Investment of Over VND 2,450 Trillion, with the Hanoi Capital Construction Project Management Board as the Investor.

Accordingly, the city will invest in building a tunnel with a direction of Ring Road 3.5 (Lê Trọng Tấn Street - now Hoàng Tùng Street) - National Road 32 with a total length of 975 m, 18.5 m wide. Four branch bridges made of prestressed reinforced concrete with a total length of over 2,300 m, 8.8 m wide bridge, and over 600 m long reinforced concrete wall.

In addition, the project also includes a lighting system, drainage system on the bridge and at both ends of the bridge. The part of the road within the interchange area is built with a synchronized drainage system, green trees, and technical cable hao.

According to Lao Dong's observation, the section of the interchange project of Ring Road 3.5 with Thang Long Avenue (the area where the interchange with a different elevation will be built) still exists with many warehouses and warehouses that have not been cleared of land.

According to Hanoi's People's Committee, the project will be implemented in the period from now to 2026. The construction of the Ring Road 3.5 - Thang Long Avenue interchange aims to complete the urban transportation infrastructure system according to the master plan, connect and exploit reasonably with the existing urban transportation infrastructure. At the same time, it reduces traffic congestion, contributes to the development of production and business, accelerates the formation of urban areas in the area, and promotes the socio-economic development of the capital city in general.

In July 2024, Hanoi also approved the investment project for building a tunnel at the Cổ Linh interchange, Long Bien district. This is one of the key interchanges of Hanoi, with a large number of vehicles passing through, which has been invested in a flyover in 2017 to ensure smooth traffic from Vĩnh Tuy Bridge to Haiphong - Hanoi Expressway.

By August 2023, Vĩnh Tuy 2 Bridge was opened after 2.5 years of construction, with a large number of vehicles passing through the bridge, causing congestion to occur more complexly than before at the Cổ Linh interchange and the road leading to Vĩnh Tuy Bridge. "The density of vehicles flowing from Long Bien into the city is very large, creating a bottleneck, making it difficult and inconvenient for people to move through here," said Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai (57 years old, Long Bien).

According to Hanoi's People's Committee, the project aims to complete the Ring Road 2 according to the master plan, synchronously building the urban transportation infrastructure system to solve the traffic conflict at the interchange, connect and link between surrounding roads, gradually complete the urban transportation infrastructure system, reduce environmental pollution. The project will be implemented in the period from now to 2026.

The tunnel is built with a reinforced concrete structure with a total length of approximately 600 m (including a 100 m long closed tunnel, a 260 m long open tunnel; a 240 m long wall and a 240 m long girdle). It is connected to Đàm Quang Trung Street and the starting point of Vĩnh Tuy Bridge.

After the tunnel is put into operation, the Cổ Linh - Vĩnh Tuy Bridge road intersection will become a three-level road intersection including a flyover, the existing road intersection, and a tunnel.
