Tuyen Quang - Hundreds of heavy trucks carrying rocks every day plow through and destroy residential roads in Ham Yen district, causing people to live in constant fear.
Recorded at the end of December 2024, on the only residential road through Thanh Cong 1 village, Thanh Long commune (Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang), a series of large trucks were operating in a row, occupying the entire road. These trucks all come from the quarry of Hoang Son Construction and Transport Company Limited. The quarry has been operating for over 2 years, and for the same amount of time, the lives of the people of Thanh Cong 1 village have been turned upside down as they have to live in fear and anxiety next to heavy trucks loaded with rocks. From Hoang Son Company's quarry to National Highway 2, one must pass through a nearly 3 km long residential road of Thanh Cong 1 village. This is a dirt road that has not been concreted yet. In the past, it had to bear the weight of hundreds of heavy trucks every day, causing dust and mud in the sun and rain.Road surfaces and curbs are destroyed by the heavy traffic of trucks that operate every day.Mrs. Tran Thi Hai (Thanh Cong 1 village) was upset: “Trucks are all 4 to 6-axle trucks, carrying dozens of tons of rocks, rumbling and running. When they encounter a small section of road where they cannot avoid each other, they get stuck. When it rains, it is extremely miserable, the mud and soil are as boggy as a pond. Villagers have blocked the trucks many times and not let them go.”However, after the petitions, things still go as they are, large trucks still rumble and destroy residential roads while the people are helpless. After nearly 2 years of being ravaged by trucks, it is difficult to recognize this as a residential road for hundreds of households. Not only is the environment affected, but the fear of accidents is always present. Mrs. Tran Thi Quang (Thanh Cong 2 village) said: "Every time I see a truck, I have to pull over to the side of the road to avoid it. Some people with weak driving skills were forced by the trucks to drive their motorbikes into the fields. The most worrying thing is the children who go to school every day and see this convoy of trucks."Many families are forced to put obstacles such as bricks and stones in front of their houses to prevent trucks from entering and damaging their yards and alleys.Ms. Dam Thi Than has a house right at the gate of Hoang Son Company's quarry. Over the past 2 years, Ms. Than has had to change the dust cover in front of her house many times. "The dust is everywhere, from blasting, quarrying, and trucks passing by. My house is so miserable, the children don't dare take their eyes off it because if they run out on the street, they will immediately see a heavy truck," Ms. Than worried. The intersection with National Highway 2 has a small, narrow road surface, but trucks carrying rocks are constantly coming and going, increasing the risk of accidents.
People's reflection is legitimate and well-founded.
On December 25, speaking with reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam - Chairman of Thanh Long Commune People's Committee confirmed that the people's reflections and concerns are completely legitimate and well-founded.
"There have been incidents where people blocked trucks from the quarry because they were so upset and worried about traffic safety. We have also gone to check, verify and asked the company to take remedial measures many times," Ms. Tam informed.
The People's Committee of Hoai Duc district has just issued Official Letter No. 547 to Lao Dong Newspaper to respond to the case of illegal construction of houses and factories on agricultural land.
