The Faculty of Italian (Hanoi University) and TIMES have reflected the different characteristics of beautiful, traditional Italy with the book series Italian Culture launched on the occasion of the 24th World Italian Language Week.
The book series includes 4 books: Italian Cultural Identity, Italian Body Language, A Brief History of Italian Fashion and The Bitter Taste of Italian Cuisine.
Mr. Marco della Seta - Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to Vietnam - shared: "This initiative aims to meet the increasing demand for learning about Italy in Vietnam and promote the dissemination of Italian culture and language to readers of the S-shaped country. Through the translated publications in the Bookcase, readers will have more unique experiences about Italian culture".
Accordingly, the book “Italian Cultural Identity” by Giuseppe Giliberti will give readers a subtle look at the cultural identity of the boot-shaped country. One of the special features of the book is the skillful use of language, expressing hidden cultural meanings, helping us better understand the soul of the Italian people.
Not only does the author describe the characteristics of Italian culture, he also raises profound questions about national identity and the changes of Italian society in the context of globalization.
Meanwhile, the book "Italian Body Language" by Claudio Nobili helps readers better understand the meaning of gestures in Italian communication, not only supporting language but also enriching and clarifying the meaning of words.
One of the key elements of Italy’s soft power is its cuisine. Massimo Montanari’s “The Bitter Taste of Italian Cuisine” discusses the special role this flavor plays in Italian cuisine.
Finally, with “A Brief History of Italian Fashion” by Maria Giuseppina Muzzarelli, Vietnamese readers will have the opportunity to explore the development of the Italian fashion industry - a unique form of cultural expression, a fusion of art and craft, which has become an inseparable part of Italy's image around the world.
Mr. Vu Trong Dai - Director of TIMES - shared: "We believe that the books will reflect the different characteristics of beautiful, traditional Italy, and will contribute to helping many classes in Vietnamese society gain a deeper understanding of the cultural depth behind the Italian words that have become increasingly popular in Vietnam...
The theme of this year's World Italian Language Week is Italian: Discovering the World Through the Pages - a powerful and inspiring message that we feel will be truly useful in publishing this series, not only in 2024 but for many years to come.”
