At the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024, the Vietnamese delegation introduced about 1,000 books from 23 domestic publishers and book companies.

Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 - the world's largest publishing and cultural event - is taking place with the enthusiastic participation of many countries, including Vietnam.

Vietnam participated in the book fair with an exhibition space of more than 100m², introducing about 1,000 books from 23 domestic publishers and book companies. This space is not only a place to introduce books but also demonstrates the strength of the Vietnamese publishing industry in the context of strong digital transformation.

In addition, the Vietnamese delegation also participated in many important activities such as meeting and presenting bookshelves to the Vietnamese community in Frankfurt and working with international publishing organizations.

Attending the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Book Space at the Frankfurt Book Fair, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications - said: “Vietnam is a country with a rich culture and history of thousands of years, where the book-making profession has appeared since the 15th century. Currently, with the development of the publishing industry, Vietnam has become a country with a dynamic economy and great potential in this field.

We are proud to introduce to the book fair more than 1,000 representative publications, from the fields of politics, economics, culture to science and technology. This is not only an opportunity to introduce Vietnamese culture but also a cultural bridge between Vietnam and the world."

To promote international cooperation in the publishing sector, Vietnam has had working sessions with the leaders of the Frankfurt Fair Centre to discuss the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU), aiming to become an honored guest of the book fair in 2028.

In addition, the Vietnamese delegation also exchanged and cooperated with publishing representatives from Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and India. Vietnamese publishers met and negotiated copyrights with more than 50 international publishing units, opening up many opportunities for cooperation and development for the Vietnamese book market.

Frankfurt Book Fair 2024 will also be a platform for industry experts to discuss new trends such as the intersection of books and digital media, sustainable development in publishing and audiobooks in the new era. It will be a platform to promote creativity and innovation in the global publishing sector.

The prominent theme at the event revolved around the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) which is creating major challenges for the publishing and literary creation industry.

Experts and authors discuss how AI could change the creative process, from content writing to publishing and distribution, as well as concerns about devaluing creative work.

The book fair will be a platform for cultural exchange between countries, where authors, publishers and readers can meet and exchange ideas.
