On September 28, within the framework of the 9th Hanoi Book Fair in 2024 with the theme "Hanoi: Capital of culture and heroes - City for peace", the exchange and launch of two new works by Vietnam Women's Publishing House "A thousand seasons of flowers" and "Secrets in the garden" took place, attracting the attention of many book lovers in the capital.
This is also an opportunity for the organizers to exchange and find voices for the Talking Book Project of the Vietnamese Women's Publishing House; at the same time, introduce and launch the Sachee Club - "Can't delay reading".
Coming to the discussion, readers, especially children, had the opportunity to learn and listen to an introduction to the poetry collection "The Secret in the Garden" with 15 children's poems about childhood memories by author Nguyen Quoc Vuong.
This collection of poems was illustrated by artist Tran Quoc Anh - an artist known for his new style of picture books, or re-illustrating old works.
Each poem is like a vivid painting with many unique colors, bringing readers an adventurous journey through words and images.
Coming to the book of poems, readers seem to participate in an adventure with the words and colors of the author and artist, thereby opening a door through time, returning to their own childhood memories.
Author Nguyen Quoc Vuong said that through language and images, the book helps children feel the beauty of nature, receive messages easily and develop their imagination.
"I hope young readers will imagine the childhood world of their parents and grandparents and find there a sparkling world full of sounds and colors of their own," the author shared.
With "A Thousand Seasons of Flowers" by the late writer Bang Son, this work not only reminds adults of their innocent childhood, but also helps children, especially primary school students, understand more deeply the natural beauty and traditional culture of their homeland. The work also contributes to developing vocabulary and writing skills for children.
During the discussion, some fun and useful activities were also held for children and book lovers such as: exchanging gifts, finding good voices for audiobooks, launching the Family Reading Club....
At the seminar, Ms. Khuc Thi Hoa Phuong, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Women's Publishing House, emphasized the importance of encouraging reading in the family, saying that the activity contributes to instilling in children a love of language, literature, and Vietnamese.
At the same time, she also encourages families, parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren to read good books to educate children through the pages of books and meaningful lessons from books.
