The book "History of Vietnam in pictures" published by the University of Education Publishing House will officially be introduced to readers on September 26.

The book "History of Vietnam in pictures" was launched on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) and the 72nd anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Publishing - Printing and Book Distribution Industry of Vietnam (October 10, 1952 - October 10, 2024).

"History of Vietnam in pictures" sketches a panoramic portrait of the process of building and defending the country, from the time the first ancient inhabitants appeared on the territory until the formation of a modern nation like today.

The book also presents the layers of Vietnamese culture, originating from the early stone and metal ages to the formation of a brilliant unique identity during the Ly - Tran dynasties, and continuously being enriched and produced in the following periods.

Famous battles and famous people are also introduced in the book, thereby explaining many important turning points in the flow of our country's history.

In addition to the history of Vietnam, at the end of each section there is a brief overview of the situation in China and the West corresponding to each historical period in the country. Based on that, readers can have a broader view of the contemporary world scene and have a more thorough understanding of the history of their country.

The book is divided into 14 main parts: "Prehistory and legends"; "Resistance to Chinese domination"; "Ngo - Dinh - Tien Le dynasties"; "Ly dynasty"; "Tran dynasty"; "Ho dynasty and the Ming period"; "Later Le dynasty (early Le dynasty)"; "Mac dynasty"; "Restored Le dynasty and Nguyen lord's government"; "Tay Son dynasty"; "Nguyen dynasty (early period)"; "Resistance to French and French domination"; "Independence, unification and development"; "A thousand years of civilization".

Without the ambition to produce an in-depth research work, the editorial board wishes to convey basic information about Vietnamese history through images in a writing style suitable for many different readers and ages.

With a rich and diverse number of illustrations, the bookmakers hope that "History of Vietnam in pictures" will inspire the love of learning about the country's history among many readers; contribute some documents and images to serve the lessons and lectures of History teachers...

The elaborate Index at the end of the book includes entries on personal names, place names, work titles... which will be an important part of great significance for looking up when receiving the content of the work.

A significant part of "History of Vietnam in Pictures" is the rich and diverse archive of photographic documents and artifacts, corresponding to each historical period, collected from domestic and foreign museums and private collections.

Monuments, temples, pagodas, and statues associated with the names of historical figures are also present in this book in the form of photographs to illustrate the language more vividly.

The entire book has nearly 2,000 pictures and maps. The place of storage and copyright of the images have been updated as fully as possible under the image notes and the Image Copyright page at the end of the book.
