On July 19, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province informed that the unit had just announced the results of high school graduation in 2025 for schools in the province.
Accordingly, at the 2025 high school graduation exam, the whole Dak Lak province will have 32,418 candidates taking the exam. As a result, 31,881 candidates passed the high school graduation exam, reaching a rate of 98.34% (not yet approved).
In this exam, there is something worth discussing.
That is, 2 months before the graduation exam, many 12th grade students of Cao Ba Quat High School (old Buon Ma Thuot city) submitted applications to reserve their results after being invited by the school to discuss.
The school convinced them not to take the graduation exam because their exam results in the second semester were poor. One of the parents said that her child was forced by the school to write a letter of resignation.
On the school's side, it has been confirmed that 16 12th graders have written applications for school dismissal or to reserve their results, however, the students wrote applications voluntarily, not forced.
However, 4 students who wrote a request to reserve their results have returned to school and passed the 2025 high school graduation exam.
This result shows that schools should not block students' learning path due to achievement problems. In a class or course, there are excellent students, good students, average or weak students.
The task of teachers and schools is to guide and teach so that good students are better, poor students will surpass average, good. Teachers must have solutions to help students progress, not have a "buy" mindset.
There are many cases where teachers guide a student to overcome difficulties during a period, then that student becomes an excellent person, achieving surprising learning results. Therefore, letting students stop an exam can sometimes block a person's progress, and then they fall into a deadlock later because they do not have to study well.
As in the above incident, if the 4 students at Cao Ba Quat High School do not return to study and take the exam, they will not have a high school diploma.
Passing this exam, students are more confident that if they are supported, encouraged, and guided, they can choose a suitable path to continue studying and learning a trade depending on their ability.
Teaching students to study well is the job of teachers, and letting students stay home from school because they are poor at school is no longer education.
