Good news on the occasion of this year's Vietnamese Doctors' Day.
This is also a message to the Vietnamese health sector, which is to train a team of international-class scientists, experts, and doctors. This is not a dream, but can be done with the right investment strategy and the aspiration of the people involved.
Vietnam has many successful doctors on the scientific path, some medical research works and medical achievements of domestic experts are recognized by the world. In terms of organ transplants, Vietnam is in the "top" in the region in terms of the number of successful transplants in the past 3 years, an average of 1,000 cases/year. Some other outstanding achievements include: Intervention to replace lung valves through the skin (Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital), Transcranial heart disease to save the life of a fetus with severe heart failure without a lung valve opening (Child Hospital 1 and Tu Du Hospital).
Observations in recent years show that more and less domestic patients are going abroad for treatment, simply because domestic medical facilities are increasingly improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, modern medical equipment, and good doctors. Not to mention, some domestic hospitals are addresses for patients from other countries to come and receive treatment, and overseas Vietnamese also return home for medical examination and treatment.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, there are about 300,000 international patients coming to Vietnam for treatment each year, this number will increase because the professional qualifications and equipment of many domestic hospitals are being improved. In particular, the private hospital sector has become a spearhead in attracting international patients because of its superior facilities and care services, but the cost of treatment is much cheaper than in other countries.
However, the Vietnamese medical industry is still quite far from advanced countries, and it is necessary to have a shortening strategy to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment and better health care for people.
There are three things to do. One is to recruit excellent students to enter the medical industry, a training program approaching international standards, and invest in doctors to conduct in-depth research abroad. Two is to have appropriate salary and treatment policies for medical staff. Third is to invest in modern machinery and equipment, meeting the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment of the people.
