With a score of 220, Vo Quang Phu Duc (Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted, Thua Thien Hue) has excellently become the champion of the 24th Road to Olympia with a prize of 50,000 USD.
This is the 7th time that Thua Thien Hue has had a contestant enter the final round of the Road to Olympia competition and the 3rd contestant to win the laurel wreath. And all of them are from Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted.
This shows the dominance of Hue, of Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in the 24-year history of this competition.
Of course, these are very happy and proud achievements of a land famous for its tradition of learning like Hue. However, we also need to be alert and not take this dominance too much for joy for many reasons.
First of all, this is a victory on a TV game show, not a national talent search, with most of the answers to the questions contained in popular programs.
Compared to the orientation of the 2018 innovative education program towards building capacity, qualities and creativity, it can be seen that the questions and answers in the Road to Olympia contest mainly aim at knowledge.
The format of the exam is largely theoretical and in most cases it is more of a memory test of general theoretical knowledge, rather than finding unanswered questions.
Moreover, from reaching the top of Olympia to becoming a useful person for family and society, contributing to building and developing the country, there is still a very long way ahead to study, practice, strive, mature and it depends on many factors.
However, we cannot deny the fact that for a long time on television, we have had very few game shows for students of all levels.
And it can be said that, Road to Olympia is the only game show up to this point, which has been maintained for the 24th year and is useful to students, with a challenging format, forcing contestants to compete with each other very intensely and fiercely from the quarter-final round to the final round.
Although it is just a TV game show for high school students, Road to Olympia has been and is the dream playground of many generations of students.
Victory, glory and pride in the Road to Olympia playground are the victory, glory and pride of the value of continuous learning.
This is something that always needs to be encouraged and promoted, because learning and promoting knowledge is both a valuable tradition of the nation and the key to having quality human resources, to contribute to bringing the country into a new era!
