On the afternoon of March 31, the Government Inspectorate announced the Inspection Conclusion on the Inspection of the Investment Project to build a new facility 2 of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital in Ha Nam province. At the same time, it said that the Government Inspectorate has transferred the case file with signs of crime to the Ministry of Public Security for investigation and handling according to the law.
The waste, as General Secretary To Lam recently reiterated at a meeting with more than 300 revolutionary veterans, meritorious people, and typical policy families in the Central - Central Highlands, on the afternoon of March 28 in Da Nang City, is "very alarming at present, in some aspects it causes higher losses than corruption and negativity".
Evidence shows that according to the report of the Ministry of Public Security, by April 2024, the whole country still has about 2,800 works and projects that are behind schedule or cannot be put into use, and are at risk of waste.
About 483 projects with an area of nearly 20,000 hectares have not been exploited. Preliminary statistics from the provinces also show 3,495 projects behind schedule, accounting for a total area of nearly 55,000 hectares.
General Secretary To Lam also called waste a " tripartite" along with corruption and negativity "need to be eliminated". " And this task will continue to be carried out resolutely and persistently in the coming time".
It should be recalled that at the 27th meeting of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity held on December 31, 2024, General Secretary To Lam requested an inspection and conclusion on the Bach Mai Hospital project, Facility 2 and Viet Duc, Facility 2 in Ha Nam.
And now, the Government Inspectorate's transfer of the case file with signs of crime to the Ministry of Public Security is a strong sign, showing the determination to eliminate the "third sector" of corruption, waste, and negativity related to public investment projects and works to continue to go deep into practice.
"Cerererently and persistently" implementing this " tripartite", especially waste, will help regain the people's trust and help have a huge amount of resources to develop the country.
Taking Hanoi as an example, General Secretary To Lam said that he had only recently reviewed and recovered two of the hundreds of projects that had earned over VND8,000 billion.
However, in parallel with the determination to "need eliminate", the fight against the "third party" also requires a more methodical, transparent and professional project management system.
Bidding and contract signing mechanisms must be standardized and implemented according to international standards. At the same time, periodic supervision and inspection during the construction process need to be strengthened to promptly detect and handle violations.
At that time, each investment capital will be used optimally, contributing to ensuring that national resources are thoroughly exploited, thereby raising people's trust and ensuring sustainable development for the country.
