At the meeting of the Police Department of the Southern Battlefield in the period of the resistance war against the US to save the country, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on the afternoon of 8.4, in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam emphasized the target to exempt the hospital fee for all people, so that every Vietnamese people truly have a warm and happy life.
This is the second time General Secretary To Lam has mentioned and emphasized the goal that can be said to be too humane and good, which is widely awaited by the people.
Along with the recent tuition exemption policy, the idea of exempting hospital fees for all people will be a big step towards fairness, bringing long-term positive meaning to society.
Health is the foundation of happiness. However, reality shows that for many people, especially ethnic minorities, residents in remote areas or poor workers, medical costs are still a major barrier.
A serious illness can put an entire family in debt, even bankruptcy. The exemption of hospital fees will eliminate that financial burden, helping everyone access basic healthcare services without having to hesitate.
This is a testament to the commitment to "no one is left behind" that Vietnam pursues, while demonstrating the spirit of a state for the people, taking the quality of life of the people as the center.
Of course, the implementation of the all-people hospital fee exemption policy will certainly face many obstacles and challenges, first of all financial resources.
Currently, medical costs in Vietnam are increasing rapidly every year due to the increasing demand for health care, as well as the application of advanced technologies in treatment.
Therefore, to meet the goal of completely exempting medical services, Vietnam needs a huge budget, requiring strict and effective management, while requiring investment capital in medical infrastructure, hospital systems and a team of highly qualified doctors and nurses.
On the other hand, when financial barriers are no longer a restraining factor, people may increase access to the services they desire.
This is of course good. However, the negative side will lead to abuse of services, overload at medical facilities, affecting the quality of treatment.
Therefore, the level of access to services that people will have when they are exempted from hospital fees, at the grassroots level such as ward - commune health stations, or provincial - municipal hospitals, regional hospitals, central hospitals... also needs to be set out to have a scientific and reasonable arrangement and calculation.
Along with that are smart control and management mechanisms to both ensure fairness in service access and ensure resource efficiency.
Free hospital fees are not only a policy, but also a commitment to a prosperous and happy future for the Vietnamese people.
Therefore, with the determination of General Secretary To Lam, the leaders of the Party and State and the widely awaited and supported by the people, the goal of exempting hospital fees for all people, although difficult, is completely feasible and will certainly be implemented.
