One night, when the project was under urgent construction, the director decided to go to inspect the site. That day, it naturally rained with showers and thunderstorms. He wore a waterproof vest, held an umbrella, and walked straight ahead. When passing by the parking lot, the night security guard rushed out and shouted: "Where are you going in this rainy weather, boss? The road behind is very slippery, please go with the lights for the boss". The director suddenly screamed: "No need, I can take care of myself. Just do your job. The security guard just laughed: " Yes, boss, be careful."
But then, as he turned into the warehouse, there was a "crack" sound, the rotten wooden floor broke in two, and he fell into a technical hole nearly two meters deep. He panicked and called for help, but the heavy rain drowned out his sound. The phone fell somewhere, my foot got stuck, my shirt was soaked. He struggled, becoming more and more desperate. Fortunately, a few minutes later, the security guard ran over and saw the flashlight fall into the hole. He looked down and panicked: "Oh my god, is the boss okay?". He ran to find the ladder, pulled the old rope, then climbed down to rescue. Struggling for more than ten minutes, the director was finally pulled up, soaking wet. The security guard quickly took off his jacket and put it on for him: "Luckily I heard the noise. Otherwise, tomorrow morning people would know the boss was still down there." The director sat breathing, trembling. For the first time in his life, he looked closely at the guard's face, his face was thin, but his eyes were bright and intelligent. He said softly: "Thank you, if it weren't for your rescue, I would probably be dead." The security guard laughed: "It's nothing, boss. If I see you in trouble, I won't help you."
The next morning, at the meeting, the director appeared in an old coat worn by the security guard, shocking the whole office. He said Last night I was almost stuck in the construction site and the one who saved me was not the engineer or department head, but the security guard on duty at night. From now on, I hope everyone remembers that in this company, no one is so small that they are not worth listening to.
Everyone was stunned, some felt like the director was talking to me.
And from that day on, the director changed completely. He started welcoming in the morning, asking about the goods, and even stopping to talk to the young staff. He is still strict, but no longer arrogant. Everyone saw him softer, lighter, in the way of a person who had fallen into a hole and was pulled up by a small hand.
