Connecting the East and the Southwest with a modern transportation system is a lifelong dream

The two regions of the South East and West and Ho Chi Minh City have not been connected by a modern and scientific transport infrastructure system for many years. The people of the South have long dreamed of convenient travel routes, a dream that is now about to come true. The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway may open two important sections to traffic in November this year.

The Southeast provinces, known as the “dynamic triangle”, attract a large number of migrant workers to the EPZs and industrial parks and work as freelancers. Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau are all localities with strong economic development and attracting investment among the top in the country. Therefore, many things are overloaded, including the transportation system.

The southwestern provinces have also begun to attract investment and develop the economy, especially the production of agricultural and aquatic products to meet domestic and export demand.

A large area with many localities with strong economic development, but the existing transportation system cannot meet the travel demand. National Highway 1 is always overloaded, the routes through Ho Chi Minh City, the roads connecting the provinces are all narrow, traffic jams often occur. That backward transportation system greatly affects the trade of goods and economic development of the area.

Ho Chi Minh City is already under great pressure from traffic, and must bear a large portion of the traffic between the East and the West, making the pressure even greater. Therefore, the completion of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway will not only contribute to reducing traffic congestion on Highways 1 and 51, but also in many areas in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway and Ring Road 3, when put into operation, will shorten the time from Long An to Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, save travel costs, and increase the competitiveness of goods.

Along with connecting the circulation of goods and services, another important area that will be breakthrough is tourism. When the expressway system in the region is completed, along with the operation of Ring Road 3, the provinces in the Mekong Delta region will have more opportunities to attract domestic and foreign tourists.

According to the construction progress of Long Thanh International Airport, the possibility of putting phase 1 into operation in September 2026 is within reach. At that time, the expressway connecting the provinces of the two regions of the East - Southwest and Ho Chi Minh City is very meaningful because it is a synchronous transportation system, connecting to the most modern airport in the country.
