Major Vang A Chua, Border Guard of Muong Muon Border Post, Dien Bien and Ms. Ly Thi Xia got married in 2012 but had no good news. It was thought that due to the nature of their work, they often had to work far away and had short leave, so the couple had little time to be together. After 5 years of marriage, there was still no news of their child.
Pressure, fear but the desire to become parents always smoldered in them. Overcoming all economic barriers and gossip, they still tried to save money to find a child. Every 2 years, they saved up some money, if not enough, they borrowed more from friends to go to Hanoi for examination and seek scientific intervention.
However, despite having been treated in many places from 2015 to 2019, having undergone 2 IUIs and 2 IVFs, luck had not smiled on them. Each time, the atmosphere in the small house became heavier.
Thinking that the door to finding a child was closed, Mr. Chua and Ms. Xia were lucky to receive a 100% free support package for IVF costs from the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital in the "Spreading Love" support program for infertile soldiers in 2021.
For others, receiving a free support package would certainly be a joyous occasion, but Ms. Xia was different. She had intended to give the support package to another couple, because of the fear of many failures, that if the previous 4 times were not successful, would the 5th time be lucky.
The couple traveled from Dien Bien to Hanoi, overcoming motion sickness and a long and difficult journey to begin their fifth journey to find their child.
After the embryo transfer, the couple stayed in Hanoi to wait for the day they could be discharged from the hospital to check the results. They could not believe the truth when they first heard that they were pregnant after 11 years of trying everything but to no avail.
Time passed quietly, the couple gradually got closer to the finish line. Together they experienced many firsts, saw the ultrasound images of two angels growing day by day, talked to the baby every day, eagerly waited for the day to meet the baby. To see that the hard work was not wrong and now all the hard work is completely worth it.
The day Ms. Xia had a stomachache waiting to give birth, Mr. Chua waited outside anxiously, pacing back and forth and looking into the delivery room waiting for the results. The first time he held his two children in his arms, he cried. Today, this man will officially become a father after a decade of searching for children.
11 years of waiting for a child with so much sadness and despair, from now on, the couple would like to put it away in the memory drawer, to welcome the happiness of a new life. After all, true happiness has blossomed and visited the small house in the highlands of Dien Bien of Major Vang A Chua and the Hmong girl Ly Thi Xia.
