The patients admitted include both men and women, aged from 54 to 84 and all residing in Phong Dinh ward, Hue city.
Initial information, previously, at noon on July 19, the above people attended a funeral in the locality, with dishes prepared by X.D restaurant (located in Phong Dinh ward).
After eating, many people showed symptoms such as abdominal pain and nausea and were taken to the hospital on the morning of July 20. The earliest admission was at 6:35 a.m., the latest at around 9:05 a.m. the same day.
Doctors diagnosed 9 patients with acute gastroenteritis due to food poisoning. Of which, Ms. N.T.L (born in 1941) suffered from septic shock as the most serious case, and is being monitored in the Resuscitation Department in a state of slow contact, cluster abdominal pain, and fatigue. The remaining patients are currently in basically stable health.
According to the leader of Hue Central Hospital, Branch 2, the unit proactively plans to receive and transfer patients according to the level of mild severity for timely treatment.
At the same time, ensure adequate human resources, medicine, emergency equipment, and be ready to perform high techniques such as blood filtration and ECMO when necessary.
On the afternoon of July 20, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Trinh Duc Nhu - Chairman of Phong Dinh Ward People's Committee said that the ward had directed relevant units to take food samples and coordinate verification to clarify the cause of the incident.
