Doctors warn many traffic accident victims of lifelong sequelae

Khanh Hoa - Every day, doctors receive many traffic accident cases with serious injuries, many cases threatening life.

On August 6, news from the Center for Trauma, Orthopedics and Burns, Khanh Hoa General Hospital said that every day the unit receives many traffic accident cases with serious injuries such as complex fractures, pelvic fractures, crushed limbs, blood vessel and nerve damage and multiple injuries, many cases threatening life.

According to doctors, behind each accident is an urgent emergency process, many consecutive surgeries, resuscitation, blood transfusion, nutritional care and functional rehabilitation lasting from many months to many years.

What is worrying is that not every patient can return to normal life. Many people face sequelae such as stiff joints, limb deformities, chronic pain, paralysis, limb amputation or complete loss of working ability.

Notably, most of the victims are of working age, which is the main source of income for the family.

Therefore, the consequences of traffic accidents not only affect the health of the victims but also create great mental and economic pressure on families and society.

Doctors said they always want the number of traffic accidents, especially multiple injuries, to decrease.

Because behind each patient is the worry of loved ones along with a difficult journey of treatment and recovery.

From the reality of treatment, doctors recommend that people not drive vehicles after using alcohol and beer; comply with speed and traffic laws; wear standard helmets, fasten seat belts properly and raise awareness and responsibility when participating in traffic.

According to the Center for Traumatology, Orthopedics and Burns, each accident prevented not only contributes to protecting people's lives and health but also reduces the burden on families and society.
