    1. Reduce inflammation

    Licorice contains glycyrrhizin, which helps reduce prostaglandins (hormone-like substances that cause inflammation and uterine contractions) and reduce the risk of cramps.

    2. Reduce uterine contractions

    Licorice root has antispasmodic properties, which help relieve severe cramps common during menstruation.

    3. Balance hormones

    Licorice contains components such as flavonoids, chalcone and isoflavonoids, which help balance hormones, especially in women with irregular menstrual cycles.

    4. Reduce stress

    Licorice is great for the adrenal glands and helps relieve stress. Stress can increase the severity of menstrual cramps, so the calming effects of licorice can indirectly relieve menstrual cramps.
