In 2024, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion alone received over 505,000 units of blood.

On December 18, speaking at the Meeting with Leaders, Managers and the 2024 “Giot hong” Award Ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, said that in 2024, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion alone coordinated with other organizations to receive over 505,000 units of whole blood and platelets separated from one donor. This is the year the Institute has received the largest amount of blood ever.

With the total amount of blood received, in 2024 the Institute prepared over 860,000 safe blood products, thereby providing them to 183 medical facilities in 31 provinces and cities nationwide, thereby bringing life opportunities and confidence to hundreds of thousands of patients in need of blood transfusion and their families.

The above encouraging results are thanks to the attention, direction and support of leaders and managers, who not only decided to organize blood donation but also encouraged, facilitated and called on cadres, employees, workers, students and people in their units to donate blood. Many leaders and managers have even directly donated blood many times.

The 2024 “Giot hong” Award ceremony is an opportunity to honor leaders and managers of outstanding units in mobilizing and organizing voluntary blood donation. The year 2024 marks many special events related to voluntary blood donation activities.

This year, the Organizing Committee selected groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in organizing large blood donations during the year, and units with many innovative and creative ways of doing things that left many marks...

Accordingly, there were 25 outstanding groups leading the blocks and 10 particularly outstanding individuals among thousands of leaders, managers and exemplary role models in blood donation.
