On the evening of July 20, information from Hue Central Hospital, branch 2, the unit has just received 10 more people suspected of food poisoning, bringing the total number of cases related to a death anniversary in Phong Dinh ward (Hue city) to 19 cases.
The newly admitted patients, aged 35 to 76, are currently being treated at the Emergency Department and the Tropical Diseases Department with an initial diagnosis of acute gastroenteritis.
Faced with the increase in the number of cases, the hospital has increased human resources to support the work of receiving, classifying and caring for patients.
Talking to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Trinh Duc Nhu - Chairman of Phong Dinh Ward People's Committee said that the ward has directed relevant units to take food samples and coordinate verification to clarify the cause of the incident.
According to the Hue City Department of Health, the unit's working group coordinated with the hospital to investigate the epidemic, collect information from patients and verify related factors.
All cases attended the death anniversary at around 11am on July 19 at My Xuyen residential group (Phong Dinh ward). The menu includes many dishes such as jelly, shrimp, steamed squid, grilled chicken, catfish hotpot and yogurt. Some people continued to reuse the leftover food after heating it up around 6pm the same day.
From 2am to 5am on July 20, many people began to have symptoms such as fever, canker sores, diarrhea, nausea.
Previously, Lao Dong reported that on the morning of July 20, Hue Central Hospital, branch 2, received 9 people for emergency treatment with symptoms suspected of food poisoning. The patients are all local people, all residing in Phong Dinh ward.
They attended a 19.7 lunch, held locally and prepared by a local restaurant (X.D., Phong Dinh ward). Through examination, all 9 patients were diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis due to suspected food poisoning.
