On December 19, information from Khanh Hoa General Hospital said that doctors from the ENT Department had just discovered and removed a foreign object that had existed in the nose of a 23-year-old patient for many years.
Previously, the patient was hospitalized with a state of runny nose and prolonged nasal congestion, and was treated at many medical facilities but did not finish. Symptoms often return, affecting daily activities and quality of life.
Through clinical examination, doctors discovered an abnormal organization in the right nasal cavity.
The results of the nasal endoscopy combined with CT scan showed an image of an organization suspected of having optical obstruction, firmly attached to the lining of the nasal floor and the wall of the right nasal passages, partly buried deep in the mucous membranes. In addition, the patient also had a deviation of the left nasal decay.
The patient said that since childhood, he often had a runny nose and had a foul smell that lasted for many years, but the specific cause was unknown.
Doctors performed endoscopic surgery to remove the foreign object from the nasal cavity. The foreign object was about 2 cm in size, had become limped and stuck tightly to the mucous membranes.
After that, the team continued to shape the nasal barrier to improve the ventilation of the patient's airway.
After surgery, the patient's respiratory condition was stable, the symptoms of nasal congestion and runny nose improved significantly.
According to doctors, this is a warning case of the risk of a long-standing nasal foreign object that has not been detected.
Signs such as prolonged, recurring side runny nose, especially accompanied by bad breath, patients should absolutely not be subjective but need to see an ENT specialist early to determine the cause and treat it promptly.
For young children, foreign objects can accidentally get into the nose without being detected, if left for a long time, it can cause inflammation, damage the nasal - duodenal lining and have a long-term impact on health.
