Lệ Hà |

In Vietnam, more than 6 million people have about 100 rare diseases, including nearly 50 skin diseases. Treatment is difficult due to high drug prices and limited resources.

On the afternoon of February 27, the Central Dermatology Hospital held a rally to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day, awarding the title of Meritorious Doctor to 3 doctors. On the occasion of the International Day of Rare Diseases, the hospital also launched the English version of the book "Rare Skin Diseases" by Prof. Dr. Tran Hau Khang, former Director of the Central Dermatology Hospital.

Attending and giving a speech at the event, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan - Deputy Minister of Health requested the Board of Directors of the Central Dermatology Hospital to fully grasp the 12 instructions of General Secretary To Lam during the working session at the Ministry of Health on February 24 to all cadres, party members, employees and workers of the hospital. This is to continue to strengthen the spirit of solidarity, inheriting the achievements of previous generations.

The Central Dermatology Hospital affirms its leading position in the industry with many achievements in 2024. The hospital is ISO 9001:2015 certified for all 13 departments and two testing departments that meet ISO standards from the BoA. The number of inpatients has increased, the quality of services has been improved.

The hospital established two specialized groups on hectarectomy and inflammation, expanding specialized treatment. Research and training work has achieved many outstanding results, successfully organizing international specialized conferences.

In directing the line, the hospital supports the implementation of specialized clinics in 21 dermatological units, improving the capacity to treat psoriasis with biological products and light therapy.

In 2024, the hospital will complete the appraisal of electronic medical records, modernize health management, reduce paperwork, and improve the effectiveness of medical examination and treatment.

Also at the ceremony, 3 doctors of the Central Dermatology Hospital were honored to receive the title of Meritorious Doctor, as Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh, Director of the Central Dermatology Hospital; Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thi Thu Hien, Head of the General Planning Department and Dr. Trinh Thi Phuong, Director of the Hospital's Training Center.

On the occasion of the International Day of Rare Diseases, the Central Dermatology Hospital launched the English version of the book "Rare Skin Diseases", compiled by Prof. Dr. Tran Hau Khang. This is the first book in Vietnam specializing in rare skin diseases with nearly 50 diseases. Exactly 1 year ago, the Vietnamese version was released.

Rare diseases in general and rare skin diseases in particular, although they rarely affect the community, can cause serious complications if not detected early and treated properly. In many cases, patients have to monitor their health for life.

The book presents nearly 50 rare skin diseases, classified by groups of causes such as: Neurological disorders, genetics, infections and groups of diseases with unknown causes. The book's content not only provides in-depth theories but also provides medical evidence and practical clinical observations, helping doctors have more important references in diagnosis and treatment.

In Vietnam, about 100 rare diseases have been recorded with more than 6 million people infected. Access to treatment is still challenging due to high drug prices and limited resources. Of which, nearly 50 rare skin-related diseases are classified, posing an urgent need for research and awareness raising in the health sector.
