Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health establishes 5 medical support teams for Dak Lak province after floods

NGUYỄN LY |

On November 24, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that it will send nearly 100 doctors and nurses to support the Dak Lak provincial health sector tomorrow morning (November 25, 2025).

In the face of serious floods causing great damage in Dak Lak province, especially in Hoa Xuan, Hoa Thinh, Dong Xuan, Dong Hoa and Tuy An Dong communes. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has held an urgent meeting and decided to establish 5 health support working groups according to the official proposal of the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health. These are areas that are being severely affected, many areas are still flooded, and people lack basic medical services.

5 working groups were assigned by area and assigned to the hospitals at the end of Ho Chi Minh City as team leaders, including: Gia Dinh People's Hospital, People's Hospital 115, An Binh Hospital, Thu Duc Regional General Hospital, Binh Duong General Hospital. The team leaders are responsible for essential professional areas in natural disasters such as emergency care, resuscitation, internal medicine, surgery and Orthopedic trauma.

In addition, in each group, the Department of Health has increased human resources from specialized hospitals in the city, including Obstetrics (Tu Du, Hung Vuong), Pediatrics (Nhi Dong 1, Pediatrics 2, Nhi Dong Thanh City), Dermatology (Daring Hospital) and Infection (Tropical Diseases Hospital), along with a team of nurses and pharmacists. The participation of many specialties aims to ensure the ability to comprehensively care for people in flooded areas, especially children, the elderly and pregnant women, the most vulnerable groups after natural disasters.

The key tasks of the working groups are to directly examine and treat people, provide free medicine and advise on how to take care of their own health and prevent infectious diseases. At the same time, the teams will support local health stations to restore operations, classify cases and coordinate referrals when necessary.

Notably, each team will carry 500 bags of household medicine, including antipyretics, oresol, diarrhea medicine, tobacco, antiseptic solutions and first aid supplies to give to people, a total of 2,500 bags of medicine prepared from contributions from hospitals.

All expenses for the working trip, from transportation, medicine, medical supplies to family medicine bags, are guaranteed by the hospitals themselves, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and affection of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector towards people in flooded areas.

According to the plan, 5 support teams will depart for duty tomorrow, as soon as Dak Lak province completes the receiving plan.
