Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch No. 116/CD-TTg dated July 20, 2025 on strengthening the prevention and control of dengue fever.
According to the telegram, dengue fever is an acute infectious disease, circulating in Vietnam. Since the beginning of 2025, the number of dengue fever cases has been recorded in all provinces and cities across the country, in which in the Southern region, the number of cases has increased by 30% compared to the same period in 2024; some localities have had deaths.
Currently, it is the peak period, and there is a potential risk of increasing the number of cases when it is the school year and during the upcoming major events of the country.
To strengthen the prevention and control of dengue fever, the Prime Minister requested:
Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and cities have resolutely directed the work of preventing and controlling dengue fever to ensure smoothness, effectiveness, and uninterruptedness when implementing the 2-level local government model and being responsible to the Prime Minister for dengue fever prevention and control in particular and disease prevention and control in general in the area.
Mobilize departments, branches, unions and political and social organizations to participate in propaganda and mobilize people to resolutely implement environmental sanitation campaigns, kill mosquito larvae, and implement epidemic prevention and control measures according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health.
Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and cities strengthen inspections and penalties for organizations and individuals who do not implement epidemic prevention and control measures according to the provisions of law.
Direct the Department of Health and medical facilities in the area to coordinate with the People's Committees at the commune level to proactively monitor the epidemic situation closely, implement preventive and control measures according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health.
Proactively detect early, provide timely emergency care and treatment for patients, minimize deaths, thoroughly handle outbreaks as soon as they are detected; proactively prevent and allocate sufficient resources for dengue prevention and control.
The Ministry of Health directs, guides and inspects localities on monitoring, detecting, handling outbreaks, preventive measures, treatment and ensuring resources for preventing and fighting dengue fever.
Proactively coordinate closely, promptly handle problems arising from localities in disease prevention and control when implementing the 2-level local government model, ensuring smoothness, efficiency, and no interruption in organizing the implementation of assigned tasks.
The Ministry of Finance shall preside over and coordinate with ministries, agencies and localities to arrange and ensure sufficient funding for dengue prevention and control to ensure compliance with regulations, savings, efficiency, and avoid waste.
The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security, according to their functions, tasks and authority, coordinate with ministries, branches and local authorities to carry out dengue prevention and control for the people.
Request the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations to coordinate with authorities at all levels to proactively and actively mobilize people to participate in activities to prevent and control dengue fever in the community according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health.
