On the morning of November 12, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, BSCKII Le Quang Hiep - Director of Huong Tra Medical Center (Hue City) said that at around 10:00 p.m. on November 11, the unit received another suspected case of food poisoning from a worker at JOINTWELL Vietnam Co., Ltd. (CN10 Road, Tu Ha Industrial Park, Huong Tra Ward), bringing the total number of patients to 14 people (10 women, 4 men).
According to Dr. Hiep, the first 5 patients were admitted to the hospital at 1:45 p.m. on November 11. About 30 minutes later, 8 more people were admitted and by 10:00 p.m. the same day, 1 more person was taken to the emergency room. All had symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea, suspected to be food poisoning. After receiving the treatment, doctors quickly organized emergency care and divided treatment into four groups.
" out of 14 patients, there were 2 cases with complicated developments, but they were treated promptly. Currently, the health of all patients is basically stable, and continues to be monitored at the hospital" - Dr. Hiep informed.
According to the initial report, the lunch menu at the factory includes: Fried tuna, shrimp spread, fried eggs, shrimp-bike mustard soup.
In addition to 14 hospitalizations, some other workers also had mild symptoms and were self-monitored at home.
The food service provider in the collective kitchen of the above company is business household Hoang Thi My L. with a food safety certificate No. 176/2023/ATTP-CNDK issued by the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene on December 12, 2023.
Currently, Huong Tra Medical Center has taken food samples and feces and sent them to Hue City Center for testing and determining the cause.
The authorities are checking the food processing and storage process in the company's collective kitchen to clarify the cause and take preventive measures for similar incidents.
