The Office of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province has just coordinated with the Department of Health to organize an online workshop with Cuba Medical Services Company under the Ministry of Health of Cuba to discuss and exchange some contents in developing medical services.
Mr. Tran Quang Canh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Health chaired the meeting at the Hai Duong bridge point. Also attending were representatives of leaders of a number of related departments and branches; leaders of a number of specialized medical training institutions in the province and leaders of provincial centers and hospitals.
At the workshop, Director of the Department of Health Tran Quang Canh provided an overview of the health system in Hai Duong. Currently, the province has more than 2,500 doctors with nearly 6,800 hospital beds. The province has 10 provincial-level general and specialized hospitals, 12 district-level multi-functional health centers that both treat and do food safety and hygiene work. The grassroots level is commune-level health stations that play a role in health care for people, implementing preventive medicine for infectious diseases and managing non-communicable diseases.
Director of the Department of Health Tran Quang Canh assessed Cuba as a country with a remarkably developed health system with 84 doctors/10,000 people. Cuba is one of the countries with an average life expectancy in the world. Primary health care with public health is Cuba's strength.
With the view of disease prevention over treatment, Director of the Department of Health Tran Quang Canh proposed that the Cuban Ministry of Health support the Hai Duong health sector in basic healthcare, especially in managing non-communicable diseases according to the principle of family medicine. At the same time, support and train Hai Duong health workers in health care as well as transfer techniques in biotechnology and drug production.
At the workshop, Mr. Vitor Philippe - Vice President of Cuba Medical Services Company under the Cuban Ministry of Health pledged to arrange 2 experts to advise and support Hai Duong in primary health care.
Regarding Hai Duong's proposal to transfer biotechnology technology technology, Mr. Vitor Philippe promised to discuss with the specialized unit of the Cuban Ministry of Health in this field to help and support the province in a timely manner. The Cuban Ministry of Health is fully qualified to receive training for medical experts from Hai Duong with 53 different specialties. Cuba is ready to receive patients from Vietnam in general and the Pacific Ocean in particular to Cuba for treatment.
At the workshop, the two sides also exchanged and introduced a number of medical services and biotechnology products, and trade mechanisms for recruiting human resources.
It is expected that in 2025, Hai Duong will organize a working delegation to attend the Fit Salud international conference and fair on tourism, health and welfare in Cuba.
