On March 27, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee announced the decision to end infectious diseases in 22 wards and communes in Ho Chi Minh City. The decision to declare the end of the measles epidemic was signed by Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, at the request of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.
22 wards and communes are announced to have all translations including: Ben Nghe, Ben Thanh, Nguyen Thai Binh, Pham Ngu Lao wards (District 1); Wards 1, 3, 18 (District 4); An Nhon Tay, An Phu, Nhuan Duc, Pham Van Coi, Phu Hoa Dong, Phu My Hung, Phuoc Thanh, Phuoc Vinh An, Tan An Hoi, Tan Phu Trung, Thai My, Thi Tran, Trung Lap Ha, Trung Lap Thuong, Hoa Phu communes (Cu Chi district).
These localities have not recorded new cases for 21 consecutive days and have fully implemented epidemic prevention measures according to regulations.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, after announcing the end of the epidemic, the city will continue to maintain monitoring activities and detect suspected cases early in the community and schools to promptly handle and prevent the risk of a new outbreak.
Vaccination work is still being implemented to ensure that children of vaccination age are vaccinated with 2 doses of measles vaccine, at the same time, organize compensatory vaccination for children who have not been fully vaccinated; communication work is being promoted to raise people's awareness of the benefits of vaccination, encourage parents to vaccinate their children on schedule, maintain hygiene and disease prevention measures.
The city's health sector recommends that people should not be subjective or negligent in preventing measles.
On May 23, 2024, the first measles cases were detected soon after more than 2 years of no cases recorded in the city. On August 27, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision to announce the measles epidemic throughout the city.
