On October 5, Ms. Ka Ly (26 years old, residing in Tan Thanh commune, Lam Ha district, Lam Dong province) said that her family had sent a complaint to the Board of Directors of Lam Dong General Hospital, requesting clarification on the death of her relative, Ms. Ka Hien (29 years old) after a cesarean section at this hospital.
Ms. Ka Ly said: “We are very upset because my sister Ka Hien died after giving birth by cesarean section at the obstetrics department of Lam Dong General Hospital. My family wants the hospital to explain the incident clearly and seal the medical records to send to the police to investigate and clarify the case.”
Pregnant woman Ka Hien was admitted to the hospital on September 15 with her water breaking. Doctors diagnosed that the patient and fetus had abnormal signs and decided to perform a cesarean section.
On September 19, Ms. Ka Hien and her newborn baby girl weighing 2.4 kg were discharged from the hospital and returned home. On September 21, Ms. Ka Hien was admitted to Lam Dong General Hospital for emergency treatment in a state of difficulty breathing, lower limb edema, and difficult-to-measure blood pressure.
The patient then fell into a coma, had abdominal distension, bruising in the lower abdomen, and a vertical incision in the middle of the abdomen that was tense and purple. Afterwards, Lam Dong General Hospital organized a consultation and performed emergency surgery. After the surgery, the patient was monitored in the Intensive Care Unit for Poison Control. By 6pm on September 26, Ms. Ka Hien was in a deep coma.
According to Lam Dong General Hospital, on September 26, a hospital representative explained Ka Hien’s serious condition to her relatives and completed the procedures for them to take the patient home as desired. On September 26, Ka Hien died.
Lam Dong General Hospital will inform about the professional consultation and re-evaluation of the entire treatment process of patient Ka Hien on October 7.
