After working overtime in industrial parks, Mr. Ho Van Bac (32 years old) and Ms. Ho Thi Huyen (32 years old) eagerly returned home in Tra Lien village, Tay Tra Bong commune, Quang Ngai province. But in front of them, the small house that had just been built for less than two months, containing sweat, tears and hope, is now just broken concrete, exposed in the mud after the terrible flood that collapsed the entire house on the afternoon of October 30.

Mr. Ho Van Bac and Ms. Ho Thi Huyen, a Cor ethnic group in Tay Tra Bong commune, are currently working as workers at Oucanyon Furniture Company Limited (Vietnam), VSIP Quang Ngai Industrial Park. Due to difficult circumstances, the couple left their hometown to go to an industrial park to rent a room, leaving their two young children to their grandparents to take care of.
Earlier this year, the local government, understanding the situation, supported 60 million VND for the couple to build a house. borrowing from relatives and from the bank, Mr. Bac and Ms. Huyen built a small house. However, after the flood, everything disappeared. "When I got there, I was quiet. The whole house is worth more than 230 million VND, which is money borrowed everywhere, now there is only a pile of scrap bricks left. Seeing without speaking. My wife collapsed and cried. All the efforts of many years of saving are now gone with the flood, Mr. Bac choked up.
Not only did they lose their house and property, the couple also were carrying a large bank debt they had previously borrowed to build a house, while the workers' salaries each month were only enough to rent, spend and send a little to their children. "Now I can only work day and night, working overtime continuously to pay off debts. Thinking about my two young children, my parents are old in the countryside, and I have been struggling to sleep many nights, Mr. Bac confided.
Ms. Tran Thi Hoai Thuong - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Oucanyon Furniture Company Limited (Vietnam), said: Mr. Bac and Ms. Huyen's family completely lost their house and property, fell into extremely difficult circumstances, seriously affecting their lives and spirit. In the immediate future, the grassroots union has allocated funds and supported Mr. Bac's family with 3 million VND, and at the same time submitted a document to the Quang Ngai Provincial Labor Federation to request consideration of additional support from the Social Fund - Golden Heart or other sources so that the family can have the conditions to rebuild the roof.
"We hope that benefactors will support us so that this worker couple can rise up after the incident, stabilize their lives and work with peace of mind," Ms. Thuong shared.
