On the evening of November 24, the award ceremony and closing ceremony of the ITF U18 - J30 Ninh Binh 2 International Tennis Tournament took place at the Ninh Binh Provincial Sports Center Tennis Court Complex. After a week of fierce competition, the outstanding players were honored at the award ceremony with the championship categories of men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles and women's doubles.
Throughout the week of competition, the matches were exciting and engaging with competition between top young players in singles and doubles.
In this tournament, the age of international athletes is very young, most of them are only from U14 to U16. The matches at the ITF U18 - J30 Ninh Binh 2 Tournament are not only an opportunity for young tennis players to exchange and learn, but also an important playground to accumulate points and improve their ranking on the international tennis rankings.
In the men's singles event, young Korean tennis player Lee Gyu Dan successfully defended his championship title when he defeated his compatriot Jeon Geon Hyeok with a score of 2-1 (6-7, 6-4, 6-3). Previously, this tennis player won the men's singles championship at the ITF J30 - Ninh Binh 1 International Tennis Tournament.
The women's singles also witnessed an exciting match between two Japanese players, Riho Goto and Rei Miyamoto. Riho Goto, with her consistent performance since the J30 Ninh Binh 1 tournament, continued to win 2-0 (6-1, 6-4) to successfully defend her championship title.
In the men's doubles event, two players from the host team Vietnam, Nguyen Nam and Tran Duc Minh, competed in the final match against the Korean pair Oh Seung Min and Kim Young Hoon. However, the victory belonged to the Korean pair with a score of 2-0 (6-2, 6-3).
In the women's doubles event, two athletes, Maria Wojtaszczyk (Poland) and Mai Sasaki (Japan), won the championship after a 2-0 (6-3, 6-3) victory over the pair Pin-Tsen Chou of Taiwan (China) and Yueqi Fu (China).
Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Son - Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Tennis Federation said: “The ITF U18 - J30 2024 International Tennis Tournament was a great success, an international sporting event attracting the participation of young talents from nearly 20 countries, gathering more than 100 promising young tennis players. The countries with the most players participating in the tournament include Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. Notably, athletes from Korea, Japan, and Vietnam have excellently won the championship and runner-up titles in both tournaments that lasted from November 11 to 24.”
