Gemini could be integrated into Google Maps

TRÍ MINH (THEO BGR) |

Google is actively integrating its Gemini artificial intelligence toolkit into its apps and services. Google Maps could be next.

Recently, while analyzing the latest beta version of the Google app on Android, Android Authority discovered an unreleased feature that allows Google Maps users to ask Gemini questions about the locations displayed on the screen.

When this feature is enabled, an “Ask for location” button will appear at the bottom of the screen every time Gemini is opened.

Clicking this button will automatically display a Google Maps link for the selected location in the search box, allowing users to easily ask questions to learn more about the location.

However, this feature only applies to specific locations such as landmarks or businesses, and does not support looking up information about cities.

Currently, users are not able to experience this feature yet. This is a finding from the analysis of the APK file, which means that the feature has not been officially launched and may be canceled before being deployed.

With Google pushing to integrate Gemini, many positive signals show that this feature will soon appear on Google Maps in the near future.
