On December 29, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that in the last days of 2025, the weather in the Philippines is generally good, but a low pressure area may form in the Philippine Forecast Area (PAR) in early 2026.
In the weather forecast bulletin at 5 am, PAGASA said that the northeast monsoon is expected to weaken from December 30, causing scattered light rain in Northern Luzon.
From December 29 to January 1, it is forecast that there will be scattered showers in Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao due to easterly winds, while the rest of the country may experience localized thunderstorms.
From December 31st to January 1st, 2026, PAGASA warns of another possible intensification of the northeast monsoon, causing light rain for Northern Luzon.
It is forecast that there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Bicol region due to wind-breaking roads.
In the week from December 29, 2025 to January 4, 2026, no low pressure or storm is expected to appear around the Philippines.
However, in the week from January 5-11, 2026, a low pressure area is expected to form near the south of Palawan, in the south of the East Sea, southeast of the Truong Sa archipelago. PAGASA forecasts that the possibility of this low pressure area strengthening into a storm is low.
Meanwhile, according to the Vietnam National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, there is little chance of tropical depressions or storms appearing in the East Sea area from January to March 2026. From April to June 2026, storms or tropical depressions in the East Sea area are equivalent to the multi-year average, but the possibility of landfall inland Vietnam is not high.
Regarding cold air activity in the next 3 months, it is forecast that activity tends to be weaker than the average of many years. However, cold air in the main winter period still causes severe cold spells.
